We are pleased to announce the New Millennium Writings

Awards for Short-Short Fiction in the 29th NMW contests, which had a final deadline of January 31.

Watch for announcements in the Poetry, Nonfiction and Fiction categories in coming days.

Winning entries and some finalists, including all poetry Honorable Mentions, will be published at www.NewMillenniumWritings.com and in our 2011 issue, which contestants will receive this winter.

Norma Shainin of Mt. Vernon, Washington, has won the $1,000 Short Short Fiction Prize for 'The Famous Writer,' her story of a couple who draw the dubious distinction of entertaining an eccentric genius aboard their cabin cruiser for several days. Shainin brings a light, yet probling touch to this charming read. Her story is scheduled to appear in the next issue of NMW, due out this winter, and also at www.newmillenniumwritings.com. We'll contact writers whose pieces we seek for publication. There was no shortage of outstanding material in this contest, and all finalists should be proud of their accomplishment. We certainly are.

The deadline in our Summer Contest is June 17. This deadline may be extended once only.
